Before the Wifi Treasure Hunt, I suggest to my team mate that we need power source for our modem and lappy. Previously we plan to bring in UPS, but unfortunately, the power in UPS can’t stand long, only 15 to 30 min.
I recall long time ago when I working as part time sales in a PDA shop during my academic break. I saw a device which able to convert the car battery power (DC) to become our normal (AC) 220V power. I when to search online and found this key word. “POWER INVERTER.
I when thought few electrical shop and find this device, the price are damm expensive, around MYR300 for a 300Watt Power Inverter, and MYR380 for 500Watt. Lucky my father still have some good relationship with a shop at town, we manage to bough 1 800Watt with only MYR260
According to the shop owner, there also have 1000 watt which for long distance bus use, they require some micro oven, frig, TV and DVD player. The more Watt, may able to provide more power.
I saw the cheapest will be less then MYR100, a 130Watt Power Inverter, which able to support a printer. This small inverter suitable for those Sales personal which need to prepare some instant document in car during travel.
I only happened to read about this wifi hunt email invitation on a day before it. Dang, else i would love to join in the fun. Just to share with u. kljs > Car battery won last long if your car did not start, you will face problem if your car not battery, cant start your car that time…
This device is advice to use for short while, like printing, check mail, and only can use long during car running, such as long distance travel

calvyn: Usually a car power inverter like mine (160W) is just enough to supply power for a single unit of notebook. However, if you’re able to find higher watts and voltage, it could maybe supply more than a single unit of notebook but i never dare to risk trying my 160W power inverter with 2 units of notebook.
Since you have a bigger watts than mine (800W), i suggest you refer to your inverter’s user manual for a clear understanding.
Point to note: check your notebook power usage, how many ‘Amps’ it uses.

I installed this in my travel trailer to run a tv/dvd, small microwave and computers. it works great, it don’t get hot or make any weird noises and its pretty well built.
The car power inverter is cooland expensive, you don’t need to get a wires and anything just to use an appliance or gadget anytime you want to travel.
