Just a simple outing during Chinese New Year, at Kek Lok Si Temple nearby my house with my friend Johnathan, a photographer which own Canon 400D.
While we there, there are a lot of SLR member too, after we make a research, most of them are Canon user, and I only saw a girl use Fujifilm, so for no one take Nikon, I am the only one.
We visit few location, and each location we use about 20 min to shoot some picture, adjust the setting, and discuss the function we use. π is quite fun to have a partner discuss with
During this part, there are a big challenging, I have shoot few picture on the beginning, when see thought the view finder, the picture are nice, but while after snap and view in the LCD, the lamp are blur… we both have no idea why, we are using tripod, not carry by hand
After a while, we figure out whats the problem, due to the lamp are hanging there, the wind cause the lamp shack, so the picture we take are blur
oh yeah, it was fun eh, where’s our next destination? π
What’s the photography lesson for today? π
Maybe u shd try adjusting the White Balance when u wanna capture the lanterns…
Cavin > I put my white balance to be auto, any suggestion on adjusting the white balance?
just to add on at my previous outing, the picture are yellowish, due to the white balance was in “shade” mode.

Nice photos of Kek Lok Si temple! It has been years since I last went there, I miss the turtle pond where people would buy vegetables to feed them π lol! Anyway I love the first and second photos, they’re nice! I could never get such steady night shots >< bleagh. Oh and anyway if you’re a fan of photoshopping you can try to use Filter > Distort > Diffused Glow, as well as pumping up the color saturation a little.
The 3rd and the 4th photos are a little bit towards the red side, but I guess they will look magnificent if the red hue is corrected π
Will check back soon!
P.S. blogrolled you!
wahh…that place so nice .. last time I been there in day time… eh, 2ml go for movie π
lukxiufung > π too bad, no free movie for me… hope next time advertlets will have opportunity’s at penang
Kek Lok Si temple is definitely a popular place for photographers to go take photos during CNY! All the photos are very nice!! Maybe except the third pic.. it is too reddish. Nikon D80 is a good camera π
Wow… It really look different before CNY lo. My Kek Lok Si photo took before CNY all look less ‘light’.
too bad, my skill is still poor, i hope i can improve more next year
it will have to take a while to improve…
dun worry, there’s always time…lol

it’s worth the investment..
Man, KekLokSi is still as elegant as ever..
