Recently my Maxis boardband are damm slow, as my previous post: Maxis suck again
decide to make my self a DIY booster or enhancer for my modem, since i made so many post regarding to DIY wifi booster such as Poor Man WIFI and Wifi Signal Booster (DIY)
I get this idea from a website call Cantena.com, Then i decide to make my own Cantena, i called it as iCalvyn’s Cantena, here come my Cantena
How to made it? Simply Choose any empty Can, as picture below…
Cut off 2 hole and let it be accessible like picture below…
Then fine a plastic or hard card board, cut it as a circle share (refer picture)
Slot the card board into the Can and put it like below, this is to gold the Can or stable the Can with the Antena
Finally it done.
But… The result are no different, i still miss out some thing. Probably the antenna did not attach to the Can aluminum. I going to correct it some more, coming up next…stay tune

how is it? works?
still not yet, i still have part 2, b’cos the antena not attach to the aluminuim can yet…
calvyn, later u get sue by Cantena.com… 😛
is that works??? o.O?>~~~
what principle does it work off? guess you still don’t have results to show eh 😀
Maxis is DAMN DAMN SUCKS ler…especially their customer service/helpdesk. I dunno how they can survive like dat?
Each time i log an issue, it was handled by diff person, and there is no follow-up. I hav to explain everything all over again to them. Sometimes i hav to do it for 3-4 times, and is wasting my time. Plus, they hav no KNOWLEDGE at all..STUPID MAXIS!
spookygrace > This method are works…
Seraphangel > Bro, i just back from my KL travel, still dun have time to make it, but idea and concept already have
Nux > i totally agree with u
Wow..i must try this method…thanks for the idea.
Fahmishah > this method has been proven by a lot of network expert… no harm to have a try…happy DIY cantena…
Horrrrrr ! I know the Brand Manager (He is my ex-client) of Iced Latte! I tell him that you make fun of his product ! LOL.
Damn, looks unbelieveable.. faster faster find out the problem.. :p
BengHan > haha…pls don’t leh…. i take it serious one, just copy their idea only…
i’m collince from Pittsburgh pensylvania-usa; i wanna buy and try one of your cantena for wireless network; tell me how much it cost? my email is: [email protected]
Genius. 🙂
Wow~
collince > this is not for sales, i just DIY my self and test out… after i prove it can use, i will let u know, probably i open factory to manufacture it
Dude, there’s a little bit more that goes into antenna design. Check this out:

it wont work.
you’ll need to calculate the depth of the can and diameter to get the optimum wavelength.in fact.doing this could cause your wifi signal to be weaker not stronger.
Do you know what paraboloid reflector is?
You made a couple of mistakes in the implementation.
1. The cylinder and has to have a bottom and it has to have a metal coating.
2. The antenna itself has to go through the side perpendicular to the length of the cylinder (and thus be parallel to the bottom of the cylinder) and the distance between the antenna and the bottom of the cylinder is CRITICAL, and is calculated based on the frequency of the signal.
The way you’ve built it… the signal out of the small accesspoint dipole antenna is like a doughnut around the axis defined by the lenght of the antenna which is blocked by the cylinder in it’s entirety and turned into… a big mess.
Here’s how it’s done: http://www.turnpoint.net/wireless/cantennahowto.html
