The U.S. online advertising industry is getting stronger every day, more evidence that the digital economy is successfully climbing out of a two-year recession.
The display ad market is leading the resurgence, and Facebook is clearly the driving force. According to the latest data from comScore, Facebook served 23 percent of the display ad impressions in the U.S. during the third quarter of 2010, a total of approximately 297 billion impressions compared to second-place Yahoo’s 141 billion (11 percent of the market share).Microsoft was third with 5 percent of the share, followed by Fox Interactive with 3.8 percent and Google sites with 2.7 percent. By comparison, Facebook’s share of the market back in early 2009 was 7 percent.
